On September 17th, 2017 on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the Nencki Institute, the ART AND SCIENCE Symposium entitled: “Biological imaging: inspirations of the invisible world” took place at the Hydrobiological Station in Mikolajki. It was a pioneering attempt to combine and find a common language between scientist (with rational perception of the world) and the art-painters (with emotional and visual perception of the same problems of the world), and the attempt to find of artistic inspiration based on high-tech imaging of biological structures (cells, tissues, organisms). The organizers of the Symposium, apart from the Nencki Institute PAS were: the Art Department of the University of Rzeszow and the Art Department of the University of Warmia and Mazury. The Polish Biochemical Association, the Polish Union of Artists (Rzeszów district) and Olympus Polska were sponsors of this event. (TJ)
