On October 8th, 2016 the ceremony commemorating Jan Igor Rybak was held at the Hydrobioogical Station. Dr Rybak was a head of the Station in 1965-1970, and dedicated his life to the study beloved Mazurian Lakes. His family founded a commemorative plaque and planted an oak in the square on the Green Cottage, then all the guests listened to the memories session, prepared by prof. Jolanta Ejsmont-Karabin. The ceremony was attended by the executives of the Nencki Institute (prof. Adam Szewczyk, prof. Hanna Fabczak, Anna Jachner-Miśkiewicz PhD), employees of the Department of Hydrobiology, University of Warsaw (prof. Joanna Pijanowska, prof. Maciej and Joanna Gliwiczowie, prof. Piotr Dawidowicz, Miroslaw Slusarczyk PhD, DSc, Andrzej Mikulski PhD) and Deputy director of the Wigry National Park Maciej Kaminski PhD and his wife Janina (TJ).
