On July 27, 2018 at the Research Station of the Nencki Institute in Mikołajki, an open educational event BRAIN ON VACATION was held (this is the fourth edition, continuation of the Holiday Brain Days), organized by the Nencki Institute and the Research Station in Mikołajki. The new program includes, among others: fluorescence show, illusion zone, microscopic demonstrations, DNA isolation, neuroanatomical exhibition, games and tests for children and adults prepared by PhD students and employees of the Nencki Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences. On June 23, 2018, the IV Science Picnic under the slogan “Science is also art” took place in the Olsztyn Old Town, where the Nencki Institute Research Stationon in Mikołajki and the other instituts of the Polish Academy of Sciences presented and explained in a interesting and accessible way a serious scientific issues. In the tent of the Research Station – Mikołajki, you could see in 3D technology, live, beautiful planktonic organisms of our lakes, learn about summer algae blooms, food chains, cladocerans, rotifers and cyclops (TJ). On June 15, 2018, The “IV White Stork Rally” took place in the Nencki Institute Research Station in Mikołajki. It was an educational and sports event for schoolchildren from our region co-organized with the Masurian Landscape Park. This year the theme was the “nature of our lakes”. 7 teams from primary and secondary schools on a 1.5-km long forest route had to find 12 control points and solve the tasks waiting for them there. On Friday, 11 May 2018, a traditional science picnic entitled “Ecology of the Spring” was held in the Nencki Institute Research Station in Mikołajki, which we have been organizing for three years with the Masurian Landscape Park together . This year, about 150 young people from Ukta, Ryn, Woźnice and Mikołajki visited us. There were lectures, classes on the water, 3D microscope workshops etc. Young participants collected biological samples, measured water parameters, learned to recognize species of water invertebrates etc. At noon, in the Conference Room the awards ceremony was given to the winners of the art contest “Underwater residents of Masurian Lakes” (TJ)… Czytaj dalej
