On June 8th 2017 we hosted at the Hydrobiological Station in Mikolajki Mr. Bernard Moreau and Mrs. Anne-Marie Szlawski-Reignoux, co-chairmens of the Franch-Polish Association of Indre (Association France-Pologne de l’Indre), cooperating with the Masurian Landscape Park and with the other institutions from Warmia and Mazury. On June 5th 2017, the hydrobiological workshops was organized at the Station for youth, taking a part in the green school. On 31.05-01.06, a scientific conference entitled “40 Years of Masurian Landscape Park – Biodiversity and Culture” was held in the “Mazurski Raj” Holiday Resort in Piaski on the Bełdany Lake, dedicated to the functioning, shaping and protection of environment of the Masurian Landscape Park. This meeting gathered and summarized current information about the scientific research and knowledge about the biological and cultural diversity of the Masurian Landscape Park. The first day of the conference was devoted to the cultural, social and historical topics of the region (5 lectures), and the second – of the Park’s biodiversity (16 lectures). On May 13, 2017, an open science workshop “Ecology of spring” was held at the Station, which we organized jointly with the Mazurian Landscape Park. During the classes the participants learned what interesting they can see in spring in the still cold waters of Lake Mikołajski (using 3D imaging microscopes), learned how to recognize the most common aquatic invertebrates, familiarized themselves with the equipment used for hydrobiological studies, measured the basic parameters of water etc. (TJ)… Czytaj dalej
“The Magic of Big Blue” – on rainy Saturday (March 18th 2017), with the people who visited our Station we had a long film-journey through the several continents. We have seen amazing scenes: from schools of colorful reef fish of Australia, by meeting with the whale sharks in the Galapagos Islands, the meeting with dangerous leopard seal with majestic icebergs of the Antarctic, to the great hunt for sardines off the coast of South Africa. On Saturday (11th Feb 2017) the second edition of the Winter Workshop For Teachers of Biology was organized jointly with scientists from the Nencki Institute PAS at the Hydrobiological Station. In a cozy atmosphere our visitors deepened their knowledge about the causes of obesity and diabetes, about the evolution of the nervous system, about GMOs and about the long-lived animals from the Arctic Ocean (TJ). In the past year we finalized the signing of the Agreement of Cooperation in science and education between Mazurian Landscape Park and the Nencki Institute PAS (the Hydrobiological Station in Mikolajki). In 2016, we jointly organized a few educational events at the Hydrobiological Station and we actively participated in several events (lectures, warkshops, symposium) in the headquarters of the Mazurian Landscape Park in Krutynia (TJ). The second edition of the Winter Workshop of the lakes ecolog held at the Hydrobiological Station on 7th and 8th December 2016. We organized it together with the Foundation for the Preservation of the Great Mazurian Lakes for high school students from our region.
